Every Sorare MLB card has a level between 0 and 10, based on the XP (experience points) it has earned. Each level grants a +1% bonus to that card's score in competitions. A card at Level 10 therefore carries a +10% bonus.
How do cards earn XP?
Cards earn XP in two ways: by being played in competition lineups, or from your XP Reserve.
When used in a lineup, a card earns XP based on your team's total base score for that Game Week. The formula: (Lineup total base score × 2) ÷ 7.
Starting in Sorare MLB 2025, you also accumulate XP in a separate XP Reserve, which you can allocate to any card of your choice. This lets you prioritise levelling up the cards that matter most to your strategy.
XP Reserve cap
The XP Reserve has a maximum of 30,000 XP per scarcity. You'll receive a notification when you're approaching the cap.
In-season bonus
All In-Season cards (current season) carry an additional +5% bonus on top of their level bonus. This bonus is lost when a card transitions to Classic at the end of the season.
What happens to XP when I sell or trade a card?
When a card is sold or traded on the secondary market, the XP accumulated on that card is halved. This affects the card's level at the time of transfer.
Cooldown Period
After a card levels up, a cooldown period will apply before you can level it again. The duration of the cooldown varies by card level—the higher the level, the longer the cooldown period.
