Card Utility: In-Season Status, Transfers, and Relegations

In the world of Sorare, your cards are digital assets that you own. Understanding how their status evolves is key to building a successful, lasting club. Sorare allows players to build squads over the long term instead of resetting everything each season, with teams evolving gradually based on player choices and performances.

Understanding In-Season Status

Every card begins its life as an In-Season card, granting a 5% New Season Bonus and providing access to exclusive "In-Season" prize pools.

  • The 11-Day Rule: Cards lose their In-Season status exactly 11 days before the first game of the new league season for the club shown on the card. This applies regardless of where the player is currently playing in real life.

  • Avoiding Overlap: Because Game Weeks open in advance, this 11-day window ensures there is no overlap between Classic Season and In-Season card eligibility.

  • Transition to Classic: Once a card loses In-Season status, it becomes a Classic Season card and the 5% New Season Bonus is removed. However, these cards remain vital for your Set Score and for competing in dedicated Classic competitions.

Player Transfers

Because Sorare is built for the long term, your cards follow the player’s real-life career rather than being tied to a single team:

  • Within Covered Leagues: If your player transfers to another club that Sorare covers (e.g., moving from LALIGA to the Premier League), your card will continue to score points based on their performance at the new club.

  • Visuals vs. Data: The card will continue to show the player in the kit of the club they were with when the card was minted, but our data provider (Opta) ensures the scoring automatically reflects their new team’s matches.

  • National Team Utility: If a player moves to an uncovered club but plays for their National Team during a covered international break, your card will still earn points for those specific matches.

Relegations and Uncovered Leagues

If a player’s team is relegated to a league that Sorare does not currently cover:

  • Scoring Pause: The card will temporarily stop earning points because there is no active data feed for that league. In your lineup, these players will appear as NG (No Game).

  • No "Burn" or "Expiration": Unlike other games, your card is never deleted. It remains in your gallery. If that player is later promoted or transfers back to a covered league, the card automatically reactivates. Holding a "relegated" star can be a powerful long-term strategy for when they return to top-flight football.
